Richard Carter BSc (Hons) MSc (Proj Man) FRICS
Richard left school at the age of sixteen and became a trainee with the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust. Working for a firm of Building Surveyors in Greenwich, he gained the required experience to obtain a degree at the University of Greenwich in 1999. He later sat his Assessment of Professional Competence in 2001 to become a member of the RICS. He continued with his studies, gaining an MSc in Project Management in 2005 and in 2006 became one of the youngest ever Fellows of the RICS at the age of 32.
Richard joined Martin Associates as an Associate Partner in October 2001, subsequently being appointed Partner in 2005. Richard received the Freedom of the City 2006 and become a member of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors where he sits on various committees. He was later elected onto the Court Worshipful Company. Richard finally achieved a long standing professional ambition to become Chairman of the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust in January 2011 and is determined to pay back the Trust for helping him into the profession.
Richard also sits on the London Regional Board Membership Development Sub-group, where he can continue his work in assisting the next generation of surveyor.
Richard lives in Bexleyheath with his wife and their two young children.
